We visited different churches, and many people from different congregations began to prophesy over us that we would eventually end up doing mission work. We had our second child, Cindy, and people we did not even know continued to tell us that we would go into ministry on the mission field. Each time this happened, I looked at the children and thought to myself, “People, are you sure you know what you’re saying?” How could I do mission work with the children as small as they were? Besides, I had never gone to Bible school. My understanding of what was required to go into mission work consisted of going to Bible school for a couple of years, learning another language, and then being sent to another country to preach wherever they put you. Time passed, and our third child, Sharon, was born.
The company I worked for had allowed me to open a small optical shop in the front of my house while I continued to work for them. We became active in ministry to missionaries and when missionaries visited the church, we always volunteered to open our home to them. The pastor would send them to our house to stay for a night, two nights, or sometimes even a week. It was also always my pleasure to help them with eyeglasses whenever I could. Meanwhile, Maria and I continued to have similar encounters with different people in different places—all prophesying that we would go into ministry.

About the Author
Wasyl (Bill) Wojtaszewski
Wasyl (Bill) Wojtaszewski was born in Pinsk, Poland, in 1937-two years before the start of World War II. His difficult journey through Germany led him to San Paulo, Brazil, where he received training as an optician. In 1958, he migrated with his family to the United States, and in 1973, established Lakes Optical Shop in Medford Lakes, New Jersey, where he practiced for 37 years. Bill is an ordained minister in the Assemblies of God. He has served on more than 50 short-term medical/evangelical missions in 16 countries, reaching people groups in underserved, underprivileged, and often forbidden locations around the world. While he considers it a privilege to help restore physical sight, his ultimate goal is to witness souls receive spiritual sight as they enter into an eternal relationship with the living Lord, Jesus Christ.
